Earlier this week, a uber-hot rumor was doing the rounds on the Internet, claiming that "Gossip Girl" front man and ultra-hot actor Chace Crawford was playing for the other team, so to say, and was enjoying a steaming romance with former N'Sync star JC Chasez. The rumors were sparked as the two had become inseparable over the past months, putting in a series of highly publicized appearances together at various events. When the two were reportedly spotted together sharing a pool-side cabana in Los Angeles last weekend, it all looked like a done deal. Although both Crawford and Chasez have since denied they are dating, the fact that Crawford just split from his girlfriend Carrie Underwood sure isn't helping those gay rumors.

Crawford and Underwood had been dating since last July, but made their relationship public last October. Things were starting to look serious, particularly when Chace invited Carrie to spend Thanksgiving at his parents' home in Dallas, and also joined his relatives for part of the Christmas break. "His parents are fond of her... they believe 'Carrie Crawford' would be a great addition to the family!", a source reported to US Weekly magazine at the end of last year. However, things between the two haven't worked out, and they are no longer together. Although Crawford has denied he's actually having an affair with another man, the timing of his split from Underwood will do nothing to quell the ever-growing rumors.

"For the record, we're both straight. We're not dating", Chasez declared yesterday on Kiss-FM 104.7, but added that he understands why the public might link him and Crawford together. "The only time people usually see us together is in some type of photograph, so they just assume that it's like that", he declared. "If I'm dating a girl and I'm standing next to another girl, I'm having an affair. So now, since there hasn't been any of that smoke out there, if I'm hanging out with a guy, they're going to make up a rumor. It's just stupid", he stated.
